Jack Casey (Kevin Bacon) is a hotshot stock market floor trader who loses everything on a risky bet and decides to trade his suit for a bicycle as a city messenger. While navigating the dangerous streets of San Francisco, Jack finds a new sense of freedom and purpose as he helps his fellow riders and protects a troubled young woman named Terri (Jami Gertz) from a local drug dealer.
