Florence Nightingale (Jaclyn Smith) defies her aristocratic family and Victorian expectations to pursue a calling in nursing during the height of the Crimean War. As she struggles against the British military establishment, she works to improve unsanitary conditions alongside her speculative love interest Richard Monckton Milnes (Timothy Dalton).
